A 10 minute mail that doesn't vanish in 10 minutes
"10 minute mail" is the name people use for a throwaway inbox that disappears after a short time. The idea is great: get an address, receive one confirmation email, and leave. The problem is the timer. Verification emails are sometimes slow, you get distracted, and when you come back the inbox is gone, along with the code you needed.
MailGenerator works like 10 minute mail, but your address and messages stay for 5 days. You can still delete everything the moment you're done. Your address is already waiting at the top of this page.
How to use it
- Copy the address shown at the top of this page.
- Paste it into the sign-up, download or Wi-Fi form.
- Wait a few seconds. The email appears in the inbox above automatically. There's no need to refresh.
- Click "Delete" when you're finished, or let it expire on its own.
10 minute mail vs. a longer temporary inbox
| Classic 10 minute mail | MailGenerator |
|---|
| Inbox lifetime | About 10 minutes, sometimes extendable | 5 days, or until you delete it |
| Late verification emails | Often missed | Still arrive |
| Come back to the same address | Usually not possible | Yes, with "Change" before it expires |
| Sign-up needed | No | No |
| Price | Free | Free |
Good uses for a short-lived inbox
- Getting a one-time download link or discount code
- Logging in to airport, hotel or café Wi-Fi
- Reading an article behind an email wall
- Trying a tool before you decide to trust it with your real address
- Testing your own app's sign-up emails
What not to use it for
A temporary inbox has no password and doesn't last forever, so never use it for banking, shopping accounts that store your card, work or government services. If you might need a password reset later, use your real email or an email alias.
Frequently asked questions
Can I make the inbox last only 10 minutes?
Yes, in practice. Click "Delete" whenever you're done and the address and messages are removed immediately.
Can I send email from it?
No. It's receive-only, which stops it from being used for spam.
Why didn't my email arrive?
Most arrive within seconds, but some senders queue mail for a few minutes. Some sites also block temporary domains. See why websites block temporary email.
